SLOWTRO F.A.Q.
Q: What is "Slowtro"?
A: Slowtro is a collaborative approach to playing the game that is intentionally designed to "slow" down the "LOTRO" experience.
Q: How do I Slowtro?
A: Leveling is carefully regulated and is done so in stages. Participating members set a specific level not to exceed until each member has obtained designated level-cap and/or completed level-appropriate quests. At certain points throughout the journey, specific quests/questchains will be clearly reserved to experience as a fellowship. All participants may quest, craft, and travel as they please as long as they do not exceed the stage level cap. *** Characters participating in slowtro should mark their kinship player note SLOWTRO ***
Q: Why would I Slowtro?
A: (1) Enjoy the game and Middle-earth through slowing the game down; (2) Experience Middle-earth collaboratively alongside fellow kin members; (3) Keep up with crafting skills; and (4) Maintain and actually use the best level-appropriate equipment.
Q: When do I Slowtro?
A: Events specific to Slowtro will be posted on the website and will be included in weekly in-game mail messages. It is strongly suggested that participants not designate a primary character for Slowtro, since it is a special fellowship experience that regulates experience gain for leveling.
Q: Do I need to purchase XP Disabler from LOTRO Store?
A: Short answer: YES. While it's not impossible to experience slowtro without the Stone of the Tortoise (XP Disabler), it is extremely challenging. Participants who do not use the disabler will find themselves intentionally skipping playing time with peers in order to stay below level cap. This seems to defeat the purpose of Slowtro altogether. The XP Disabler is 100 TP, and is bound to account (meaning that one can share it between characters indefinitely on the same account).
Q: Is this an In-Character or Out-of-Character journey?
A: Slowtro is an out-of-character journey through Middle-earth. In-character gamers are welcome, but the environment is set for out-of-character.
Q: Can I still participate in Kinship Divisions?
A: Absolutely! Those participating in slowtro are our very own kinship members.
Q: How to I join Slowtro?
A: Simply contact Kristjon or Mattharan and make sure character applying is within the level cap parameters.
